jones springJones Springs began in 1947, now one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of Leaf springs ranging from anything from a horse carriage to an 8 wheel lorry. Jones Springs supply multi-leaf spring and parabolic springs nationwide in any quantity.

To help with their operation Carl Jones has two aging fork trucks that were letting them down.  Having been impressed with West Mercia’s website, he enquired through to West Mercia.  David Pugh, Sales Executive of West Mercia arranged to meet Carl, and went through some options.  He recommended looking at two brand new trucks on Contract Hire.  The reasons being the existing trucks were costing Jones Springs every month, and brand new trucks have far more reliability and also are extremely cost effective over a hire contract.  Carl says “I have been hugely impressed with the service from West Mercia right from the first point of contact, the two trucks we have in have given the employees a major boost, we no longer have breakdowns weekly which has improved our productivity and reliability to our own customers, we can run our cash flow more accurately, and we have two fantastic fork lift trucks in our work place to use for many years to come.”

Julian, MD at Janitorial, called in fellow family business West Mercia Fork Trucks for a discussion.

Julian and Sam Gaze, Directors at Janitorial Direct spoke with David Pugh at West Mercia, and were hugely impressed with the options put forward, they promptly agreed to Purchase a fully re-furbished Bendi fork lift.

Julian says “from day one I was really impressed with West Mercia’s attitude and professionalism, having a delay on the truck was also not a problem as we had one in free of charge in the meantime. We are absolutely delighted with the new truck.”

West Mercia Wires Trucks in to UK Cables

UK Cables has been a long standing customer of West Mercia since 1999 when it was based in Perry Barr, Birmingham but due to its continued success and expansion it has now relocated to much larger premises in West Bromwich.

“We run a fleet of 13 forklift trucks consisting of reach trucks, man up order pickers, pedestrian stackers and counter balances. Within our fleet of counter balances we have two 2500KG that carried out the majority of our work. With the expansion of our business the workloads on these trucks increased to in excess of 50 hours a week which in turn was reflected in an increase in maintenance costs.

It was at this point that our account manager from West Mercia Fork Lift Trucks Mark Pugh approached us and suggested a more cost effective way of meeting our material handing needs.

“Mark presented us with a proposal to hire two brand new Doosan Fork Lift Trucks at an extremely competitive weekly rate that included all repair and maintenance costs. This really suited us as there are no hidden additional costs with regards to repair and maintenance of the trucks and we have also seen a dramatic increase in productivity with the new machines in comparison to the ageing trucks they replaced.

“I would have no hesitation in recommending West Mercia Fork Lift Trucks as I really feel that our account manager advised us with the best interests of our business at the centre of every suggestion made.”

FGF Insulation celebrated 60 years in business in 2014. From humble beginnings, FGF have become one of the largest independent specialist suppliers of Insulation materials and conservation products in the UK Dppsan for FGF
The company rely on their fork trucks to ensure the delivery deadlines promised are met. To ensure the standards are maintained, FGF needed to invest in new replacements. The replacement trucks needed to be robust, quick, agile and reliable to cope with the fast moving demands put upon it..

Mick Reid of FGF says, “West Mercia have been the preferred choice service provider for many years. West Mercia’s David Stanley carried out a comprehensive site survey and proposed the Doosan Pro 5 Diesel series truck, supplied with a powerful engine, also recommending we increase the current load capacity from 2500kg to 3000kg, ensuring greater safety when handling the large size boards we supply.

However, as we were in the market to purchase new replacements, we needed to satisfy ourselves on buying the right truck. We therefore, invited several fork truck manufacturer’s to compete for the business, resulting in us trying out other top brands to compare on site. After trialing a number of other manufacturers trucks we compared performance, strength of build and operators likes and dislikes.

The outcome proved the Doosan truck to be the right choice for us based on its strength of build, powerful engine and its tight turning ability, coupled together with a very attractive purchase package offered by West Mercia.”

Danny is keen to deal with local business rather than an organisation in another part of the country

Dealing with a local, founder member of the Fork Lift Truck Association such as West Mercia provides the peace of mind regarding the quality of the goods supplied, and as importantly the aftercare in the future, paramount to the efficient running of the business.
