As an expanding Birmingham based business we recently had a requirement for a reach truck to operate at our West Midlands city centre warehouse. Not knowing many local truck companies we decided to visit a web based forklift company that advertised the equipment and the service package that we required. It was not until the truck broke down that the problems started…
After reporting the breakdown we were faced with non return of calls, being told that who we needed was on holiday or out of the office. After a week and countless telephone calls an engineer did eventually turn up. He inspected the truck and then left site for parts. Without anyone being made aware we were then left with a truck that had no brakes. This was an extremely dangerous situation, totally unacceptable and against our health and safety policy. Again, after no communication or assistance we contacted West Mercia Fork Truck Service Ltd to help us. They promptly sent an engineer out who fixed the truck on the first visit and within 24hours they had also arranged the LOLER examination that should have come with the truck and is a legal requirement.
I would not under any circumstances use an internet only company again to buy any Materials Handling Equipment as the total lack of after sales support and service I have received has been very unprofessional and extremely unsatisfactory.
